Endometrial Polyp: A case study review

This week, Julie reviews an endovaginal ultrasound exam for post menopausal bleeding. The exam reveals a thickened endometrium with a focal area of increased echogenicity suggestive of a polyp. This patient was scheduled for a sonohysterogram on the same day. Cine clips and still images depict a large fundal polyp with a feeding vessel. Incidentally there is also a small fibroid noted in the mid portion of the uterus. This case study reveals the importance of a sonohysterogram and the subtle nature of endometrial polyps. The initial measurement of the endometrium was the sign for further investigation.
